When you have to show that your Corporate "American Psycho" -type exec is so evil that he pays a homeless guy to get beat up by him. Also, the obvious American Psycho homage and or inspiration. I get that this is our protagonist's evil doppelganger, But that's a little on the nose, no?
The casting is very diverse, except the main characters. A statement? Or just TV shows being TV shows. As this show adds more and more conventional tropes it's hard to tell.
The Fight Club overtures are getting more and more prominent.
Aw man, he asked her to be his girlfriend. Now you know she's going to die.
And of course the American Psycho exec is bisexual (or closeted) too. Because LGBT+ characters are either murder victims or psychopaths.I'm really waiting for this show to do some trope busting.
So we have the dope-fiend programmer, dating his dealer who he saved, all thrift Shop cool going to dinner with Abercombie and Fitch and the girl that he's friendzoned by. And the Friendzoned girl goes for the wine.So of course Eliot and Friendzone are off by themselves, talking over old times. Where's new girlfriend? Did you even notice she was gone? ho there she is, looking on sadly ans the main character and Friendzone run away together, like she was just talking about.
It couldn't be any more American Psycho if it was shot in mirrors. Did he just fuck that guy so he could root and pwn his phone? Social Engineering, golden honeypot level.
Overcompensating douchebag wants to talk because he knows hes guilty. And he confesses, clearing the field for our hero to be with the one he really loves, Friendzone Girl. Really? She's going to just roll over and give in? Oh really with the hand on the knee and the I forgive everything? I don't know which is worse.
And Of course American Psycho's ?wife? is into bondage and they make it more 'deviant' with the fact that she's pregnant.

I don't even know what to think, And I kinda like that. but the expected tropes and Heroe's journey of it all isn't as groundbreaking as it could be.
